FANTASTIC Out first visit to the pub, it wont be our last. The most friendly pub I've ever visited. The food and beer were unbelievable, we cant recommend it enough. Local beers from their own brewery and grain from a field you can see from the pub, must be the most ecologically friendly drink available!

Friendly and welcoming Stayed en route to Portsmouth ferry port. A very welcoming pub with open fires and comfy sofas. Had a good meal. Lovely helpful staff especially the owner

Lovely evening and delicious food Went here for our wedding anniversary meal, and couldn’t fault it at all.
The welcome we received was friendly, there was a great atmosphere and the staff had decorated our table with table confetti.
The food was faultless, and the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. We weren’t rushed at all, which was perfect for us as we don’t get to go out together a lot so it’s good to make an evening of it.
Will definitely be returning- thank you 🙂

What a wonderful birthday I have visited this pub on and off for, well, a long time. This visit was to celebrelate a significant birthday. Meetings and correspondence with Sonny were fantastic. Reassuring and guiding. The choices of finger buffet food were brilliant. The taste and quality of the food produced were amazing. Very little was left! The staff were attentive, friendly and caring. All in all, we are definitely going back. Definitely exploring the menu and definitely letting our friends know if this wonderful, historic and marvellous public house.

Friendly and attentive! Greg the owner is an amazing man! I called last minute to book a couple of tables in his heated and well ventilated marquee, we had the offer of hot water bottles and blankets in case we got chilly too. The bar staff were very friendly, attentive and kept our glasses topped up. The bar has a huge selection of diverse alcoholic beverages to suit all tastes and pockets! I completely recommend a trip to this pub. Make sure you call to book a table!

Great Sunday lunch We had a super Sunday lunch with friends. Food was delicious and locally sourced, well presented and the service was friendly and efficient.

Outstanding pub with high quality of food Our welcome at The Golden Lion was very friendly - we hadn't booked for Sunday lunch but the landlord promised us that we shouldn't have to wait too long and he took the time to describe some different non-alcoholic beers. Outstanding and historic interior, friendly staff, good range of quality food, tasty vegetarian option, just such a pity that my roast turkey parcel was a bit dry and tough. Never mind, everything else was very good and I shall be back.
